Giving it the old Pixar try
Thursday, April 10, 2008 - 8:54 AM
My college career is coming to a close so I'm scrambling trying to apply for internships/jobs. What you saw in place of a comic is part of a storyboard sequence I created for my Story portfolio for a Pixar internship application.
So yeah, that's what I've been working on for the past three weeks. I intend to submit it on Friday and that will remove a tremendous weight from my shoulders. After that, comics should return as usual! But with the year closing up things could get hectic. Thanks for being patient and hopefully I can come up with some filler art to make up for it.

I was on Spring Break last week so I wasn't able to update... and the week before that I was busy with school. But hey look! Semi-animated 3rd panel! Pretty sweet, huh?
... I'm sorry.
On the school side of things the movie I've been working on with my class is slowly coming to a close. In fact, I'm rendering out my lighting shots right now. When I go to school tomorrow(today?) I hope to be greeted with 12 scenes full of pristine, perfect, no-screw-up TIFs.
If a quarter of you understood half that, I'm doubly amazed.
If any of you guys were worried when I switched to drawing by hand (and really, I can't blame you) I have proof that it was a good idea in the long run. PROVE ME WRONG.
Sad, but true

School takes its toll on my update schedule! But, I have the character inks done on the next JT. Now I have to draw and ink the background so I'll do that for tonight. Exercise schmexercise!
I'm working my butt off to populate the background with Court attendees but it's almost a lost art because the get blocked by the main characters anyway! I say "almost" because you can view them here!

I was sick with food poisoning on Sunday/Monday. Whee! Also, there were supposed to be a background crowd in panel 3, but I'll do that later.
Oh god I can see forever

So yeah. This comic was a real pain to come up with, mainly because it took me a while to think of an interesting way to teleport Author Chris into the comic. I tried an intro like Laurie's, a telporter beam like Star Trek, but eventually settled on something that happened in the Futurama movie, "Bender's Big Score." I recommend everyone that was a fan of the show to buy it, and anyone who's never seen it to watch it. Today's comic is curiously a JPEG as the swf file, in an unusual twist, was larger than the JPEG comic. 1.38 megs!
Oh, no Jaks Tales for tomorrow. With a few months left before I have to try to find a job, this month consisted of animating and stuff. I'll try to have it by Monday.
Only defense

As you can tell, a new storyline has begun: Universal vs. term. Not a very original title, but I think it gets the message across. I've always been worried what would happen if Universal went after me, so I figured I'd do them a favor and do it for them. Then again, I've probably done them too many favors at this point.
Well, let's add one more: everyone should watch The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Fox at 9 on Mondays. This is coming from an insane terminator fan. Or should I say terminatr fan?
Anyway, I drew a veritable buttload over Winter Break and only now am I realizing I can use them as voting rewards. Click here to see everyone's favorite medieval midget! Now with bad habits!
Happy new year!

It's a whole new year and a set update schedule for Carzorthade and Jaks Tales! Carzorthade will be updating every Wednesday and Jaks Tales on the first of every month. Hurrah!
